Who I am

Muniblogs (muniblogs.com) is run by me, Muni, from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. I’m responsible for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach me at admin@muniblogs.com.

What I collect and why

When you use the contact form

The form sends your name, email address, reason for contact and message to my inbox through FormSubmit (formsubmit.co). I use these details only to reply to you.

When you subscribe to the newsletter

If you sign up for the AC buying checklist, your email address is stored with MailerLite, my email provider, and used to send the checklist and occasional updates. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.

When you leave a comment

WordPress stores the name, email address, website and comment you enter, along with your IP address and browser details to help catch spam. Your email address is never shown publicly. Comments may show your Gravatar picture, which means a coded form of your email address (a hash) is sent to Gravatar, a service run by Automattic.

When you visit

Like every website, my server and its security tools log technical details of each visit, such as your IP address, browser and the pages you request. These logs keep the site secure and working. The services in the next section also collect information about your visit.

I don’t ask for phone numbers, postal addresses or payment details, and I don’t sell products directly.

Cookies and third-party services

Advertising cookies

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google’s Ad Settings, and opt out of some other vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.

Amazon links

Amazon and other third parties may place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons, to collect information when you visit this site or click an affiliate link. This information can include your IP address, browser type, operating system and the pages you visited.

Your choices

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google’s consent mode is set so that its analytics and advertising cookies are not used unless you give consent. Anywhere, you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work.

How long I keep data

  • Contact messages: until your question is resolved, and no longer than 24 months.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
  • Comments: for as long as the comment stays published, or until you ask me to remove it.
  • Analytics: for the retention period set in Google Analytics, which is at most 14 months.
  • Backups: site backups may hold copies for a limited time before they are replaced.

Sharing

I never sell or rent your personal data. I share it only with the services listed above, which handle it to run the site, or when the law requires it. Some of these services store data outside India, including in the United States and the European Union.

Your rights

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask me for a summary of the personal data I hold about you, ask me to correct or erase it, withdraw consent you’ve given (for example, by unsubscribing), and nominate someone to exercise these rights for you. Visitors from the EU, the UK and other regions have similar rights under their own laws.

Email admin@muniblogs.com and I’ll reply within 30 days. If you’re not satisfied with my answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India or your local data protection authority.

Security

The site uses HTTPS, is kept up to date and is backed up regularly. No website is completely secure, but I take reasonable steps to protect the data I hold.

Children

Muniblogs is written for adults buying appliances. It isn’t aimed at children under 18, and I don’t knowingly collect their personal data. If you think a child has sent me personal data, email me and I’ll delete it.

Guides link to retailers and other websites, which have their own privacy policies. I’m not responsible for how they handle your data.

Changes to this policy

When I change this policy, I’ll update the date at the top of the page.
